In Zone One, if you go behind the weapons armory there are dinosaurs that will explode if shoot them with anything besides the Vulcan Cannons or the Machine Pistols. If you do, they will just die.

The Flak Cannon works well at close range. Fire it at the first group of landing craft then use your pistol for the tanks at long range.
